Earning Revenue

How can I earn money on Edunomi?

Teachers on Edunomi earn revenue through royalty payments and premium referrals. Head to the Teacher Handbook for more details.

How do students pay for my class?

When you publish your class, it will automatically default to our Premium Membership catalog. To start watching your class, students will need to sign up for a Premium Membership. Without a Premium Membership, students will only be able to view the first video of your class.

If you’d like to make your class available for free (no Premium Membership necessary to watch), select the Free option under Class Type in the More Details section of your class creator. You will not be compensated for the period in which your class is free, and you can change your class back to Premium whenever you’d like.

When and how do I receive payments from Edunomi?

You will receive payments for each month on the 16th of the following month. For example, you would receive payments for the minutes watched in your classes and referrals made from July 1st to July 31st on August 16th.

We send payments through PayPal. Unfortunately at this time, if you do not have a PayPal account, you cannot earn revenue from teaching on Edunomi.

You can easily add a PayPal account to your Edunomi account account under the Payments section of your Settings. At the bottom of the page there will be a prompt to input your account name.

Where can I find stats on my class performance and earnings?

For stats related to an individual class, head to the class page, and click “View Stats” on the left side toolbar. Here you’ll find stats on visitors, students, minutes watched, and reviews for that individual class.

For stats related to your Edunomi channel overall, click on the “Teach” dropdown menu near the top right of your screen, and select “Your Teacher Stats”. On this dashboard, you’ll find stats on your earnings and performance across all classes.

How can I see how much money I will earn?

Estimated earnings are displayed on your teacher stats dashboard to give you more insight into what to expect in your PayPal account on the 16th of each month. You’ll see two types of estimated earnings: estimated royalty earnings (for the Premium minutes watched in your classes) and estimated referral earnings (for the students you refer to Edunomi through your referral links). In the first half of a given month (the 1st through the 15th), the dashboard will display your upcoming estimated earnings to be paid on the 16th of the month for the previous month’s activity. In the second half of a given month (the 16th through the last day of the month), the dashboard will display your estimated month-to-date earnings based on the current month’s activity. Learn more about how estimated earnings are calculated.

How are estimated earnings calculated?

Estimated Royalty Earnings:

Your estimated royalty earnings are based on two main factors: 1) your share of the total Premium minutes watched on the platform month-to-date, and 2) an estimated royalty pool amount based on estimated Edunomi membership revenue.

It’s important to note that there is a level of variability in these calculations driven by three main factors.

  • Your share of the total Premium minutes on the platform is subject to change based on the performance of your classes alongside the performance of other teachers’ classes. For example, if you publish a new class that gains quick popularity on the platform, you could start accruing minutes watched at a faster rate than other teachers, increasing your share of the total Premium minutes. Similarly, if other teachers accrue minutes watched in their classes at a faster rate than your own, that could decrease your share.
  • Edunomi’s monthly membership revenue — and thereby, the amount of revenue in the royalty pool — is subject to change beyond our projections based on shifts in cancellation rates and refund rates. These shifts can be unexpected, particularly in this uncertain time.
  • Our Trust & Safety team is regularly conducting fraud investigations that may occasionally result in changes to your Premium minutes watched, and thereby, your share of total Premium minutes.

As a result of this variability, you may find that your actual royalty earnings may sometimes fall outside of the estimated range, but we do our very best to ensure these numbers are as accurate as possible.

Estimated Referral Earnings:

Estimated referrals are based on a simple formula: you receive $10 for every referral student who signs up for Premium Membership through one of your referral links. Edunomi occasionally runs promotions that may increase your referral earnings. Those additions will not be reflected in your estimated referral earnings on your stats dashboard.
